What are savENRG® Cool Packs?

savENRG® Cool Packs are manufactured using a paraffin-based phase change material (PCM). This material solidifies as the surrounding temperature drops from 8°C to 2°C (47°F to 36°F) releasing heat and then melts as the temperature rises from 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 47°F) absorbing heat.

Why are savENRG® Cool Packs better than regular gel packs?

savENRG® Cool Packs work best in the range of 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 47°F) while gel packs work best in the range of -5°C to 5°C (23°F to 41°F).

When a gel pack is used to keep a product within a refrigerated temperature range of 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 47°F), it maintains products in the temperature range of -5°C to 5°C (23°F to 41°F), greatly increasing the risk of overcooling or freezing.

savENRG® Cool Packs maintain a 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 47°F) temperature range.

When to use savENRG® Cool Packs:

Clinical trial specimens need to be maintained at refrigerated temperature conditions of 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 47°F) from the collection point to a diagnostic laboratory. These specimens are shipped overnight using a courier service and have a high likelihood of exposure to extreme temperatures in transit. A regular gel pack cannot protect the product from overcooling below 2°C (36°F), while a savENRG® Cool Pack will efficiently keep the specimen above 2°C (36°F) in the winter and below 8°C (47°F) in the summer.
